Join us for an evening of art and action! Adam Nielsen will be doing a live art demonstration from 6:30-8:00pm, with time to socialize, connect and explore his art featured at The Shift.
MEET THE ARTIST: Adam is a local potter and bartender with roughly 16 years of hands-on experience, he works primarily in high-fire soda-fired functional stoneware and porcelain from his home studio. His practice bridges utility and artistry, shaped by a deep familiarity with both the craft of ceramics and the rhythm of hospitality behind the bar.
His work explores form and function in equal measure, ranging from refined liquor bottles and elegant martini glasses to playful trinket jars guarded by prehistoric-inspired figures. Each piece reflects a balance between everyday usability and narrative detail, often carrying a subtle sense of character and story through texture, silhouette, and surface.
In demonstrations, he shares an assortment of wheel-thrown and hand-built forms, offering a window into the processes behind soda firing and high-temperature reduction work. The result is a body of work that feels both grounded in tradition and open to experimentation, shaped by years of continuous practice in a home studio environment.
